Arctic Blue Waters Blog is on "Water Where did it come from?"
There seems to be a lot of debate and undecidedness on how water actually became to exist, so the team at Arctic Blue Waters thought we would do some research into this and see what answers to this we could discover.
The most popular theory and scientists do not know for sure, is after the Earth was formed, millions of asteroids and comets, saturated in water crashed into the planet, releasing its load to form Earths oceans.
We have sourced some other theories though not as popular as the above.
Some say the cooling down of the prehistoric world to the point where the outgassed volatile components were held in an atmosphere of sufficient pressure for the stabilisation and retention of liquid water.
Another theory is Gradual leakage of water stored in hydrous minerals of the Earth's rocks or that there was a decomposition of material under the influence of light such as radiation which can break down chemical bonds on the surface.
There is many scientific theories but there is also some that say that it is not a scientific discovery but a religious one. So what does the bible say? In the bible Genesis 1.1 is the first verse of the first chapter in the Book of Genesis it quotes that in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. In 1.2 the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep and the spirit of God moved upon the face of waters. The bible goes on to say in versus 1.9 Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. 1:10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called the Seas: and God saw that it was good.
The long and short of it it that even scientists are not 100% sure how we came to have water and are still putting lots of time into researching evidence of this. Whatever the outcome water is a very important factor in our past and our future and without it we would not survive.
