A child will die from a water-related disease every second.

Following on from our research into The Appalling Facts about our Earths Diminishing Water Supply, Arctic Blue Waters have found some alarming information regarding children and how one child will die every minute from a water related illness.

Surveys from 45 developing countries show that women and children tend to have the responsibility for collecting water in the majority of homes. This time is not including any time spent working, caring for family, or attending school.

443 million school days are lost each year due to water-related illness.

Diarrhoea is the second leading cause of death among children under five in the world. Around 1.5 million deaths each year - nearly one in five – are caused by diarrhoea. It kills more children than malaria, AIDS, and measles combined.

It is suspected that every minute at least one child dies from diarrhoea globally.

An estimated 4,100 children under the age of five die each day from diarrhoea globally. Malnutrition, due to dirty water, inadequate sanitation, and hygiene, is estimated to lead to death in an additional 2,350 children under the age of five each day.

Nearly 1.5 million children under the age of five will die every year from diarrhoea globally.

It was estimated that in the 1980s a child died approximately every six seconds from diarrhoea and the majority of these were children under the age of 5 and from undeveloped countries.
